Madagascar – A land of contrasts in 12 days.
Day 1 Arrive into Antananarivo, transfer to your hotel for 1 night.
Day 2 Drive to Antsirabe, visit the city and afternoon hike in Betafo village and meet the blacksmith.
Day 3 Drive to Miandrivazo, arrive for lunch and then visit the local Sakalava people.
Day 4 Drive through the rice growing areas to Morondava and onto Kirindy through the baobab country. Night wak to see lemur species at Kirindy.
Day 5 Early morning walk looking for up to 8 different species of lemur including sifaka and brown lemurs. Later drive to Bekopaka taking the ferry across the river on the way. Overnights Olympe du Bemaraha for 2 nights.
Day 6 Day’s hiking in the reserve the ‘Tsingy to Bemaraha’ classified as a world heritage site with its classic sharp limestone karstic scenery. Many species of lemur, chameleon and birds and plants can be seen here.
Day 7 Drive back to Morondava, stopping to see the baobabs along the way. Late afternoon chance to swim in the Indian Ocean – Morondava is a laid-back seaside town.
Day 8 Drive back to Antsirabe.
Day 9 Drive back to Tana and onto Andasibe to the east, overnights Hotel Feon’ny Ala, for 2 nights.
Day 10 Morning hike in Andasibe Park, home to many lemur species of which the most famous is the Indri indri – the largest and most vocal of all lemurs. Afternoon visit to Lemur Island, great for closeup shots of lemur.
Day 11 Morning drive back to Tana stopping at various lemur reserves on route. Market shopping in the late afternoon, overnight Tana hotel.
Day 12 Transfer to airport for onward flights.
